Salt Marsh Opera

This season, we will feature Salt Marsh Opera’s production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, with two shows on May 14th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon.

GIanni SchicchiIf you were ever in doubt that opera could be hilarious, then Gianni Schicchi, Puccini’s one act opera, will convince you otherwise. When Buoso Donati dies, his family are horrified to learn that he has left all his money to a monastery. They turn to the cunning Gianni Schicchi to help them change his will. But will their plan backfire?

Founded in 2000, the Salt Marsh Opera Company is dedicated to producing high-quality, professional operas in Connecticut and Rhode Island and to making its productions available to the entire community.

Committed to raising the awareness of opera through educational initiatives with fully staged productions, Salt Marsh Opera productions feature professional singers selected by audition in New York City.

Salt Marsh Opera’s Magic Flute Study Guide for Teachers

It is a terrific, resource for teachers.  Note the mapping to Common Core Curricular standards, and the cross- disciplinary exercises. Salt Marsh collaborated with  a panel of educators (which included STEM teachers)  from the New London district to develop this guide. VIEW STUDY GUIDE
